PRE-BUILD CONCEPT · CASE FILE
Fight chargebacks for a flat fee. Not a cut of your money.
FlatBrief is a pre-build concept for organizing the evidence each dispute type calls for from order, tracking, refund, and customer-history data. The merchant reviews every package before submission. Planned pricing starts at $19/mo, flat, with no share of recovered funds.
EXHIBIT A
Recovery fees can turn a win
into another variable bill.
Two established chargeback apps list success fees of 20% and 25%. One also lists $29 per deflected chargeback alert. On a 25% plan, recovering an $800 dispute creates a $200 service fee. These are verified one-star reviews from a percentage-fee app:
"I lost over $4,000 just in [app] fees… Even when I did the work myself… they still charged me."

"Their responses look like generic copy-and-paste templates… you are honestly better off using ChatGPT."

"Auto submit chargeback… without key evidence cause our cases lost."

With percentage pricing, the service fee rises with the amount recovered. FlatBrief's planned monthly tiers would make the software cost predictable instead. Merchant approval before submission is a separate product law, prompted by public complaints about generic or premature responses.

EXHIBIT B
AI does the assembly.
You keep the judgment.
-
01
A dispute lands. The planned workflow opens the file.
If the technical gate passes, FlatBrief would pull the permitted order, fulfillment, tracking, refund, payment-verification, and purchase-history fields, then start a visible deadline countdown.
-
02
Evidence is built for the reason code, not from a template.
A fraudulent-transaction dispute needs different proof than a product-not-received dispute. The planned workflow would organize the relevant evidence, show what is present or missing, and keep uploaded files below Shopify's 4 MB combined limit.
-
03
You review before anything is submitted.
Merchant approval is the product law. Gate 1 must prove the exact API submission and receipt behavior before either feature can be promised for launch.
EXHIBIT C
Every reason code shows its work.
The planned review screen shows the checklist for each supported reason code, what the app found in your store's data, and what you could add before anything is sent.
- ✓ AVS + CVV results, when available
- ✓ Prior undisputed purchase history
- ✓ Checkout IP + billing region match
- ✓ Proof of delivery with tracking
- • Customer acknowledgment add if available
- ✓ Carrier tracking + delivery scan
- ✓ Ship-to matches verified address
- ✓ Fulfillment timeline vs promise date
- • Customer communication add if available
- ✓ Refund + cancellation history
Shopify's dispute guidance calls for different evidence by dispute type. That requirement shaped this product concept. We won't promise outcomes; we'll show you the checklist.
Technical source: Shopify's dispute file documentation sets a 4 MB total file limit.
EXHIBIT D
Do the math on your own store.
Drag the sliders. The left column models Chargeflow's listed 25% recovery fee plus $29 for each chargeback successfully deflected by alerts. Unsuccessful alerts are not charged. The right is FlatBrief's planned flat pricing. The calculator makes no win-rate assumption.

FlatBrief
Standard plan: up to 15 disputes, flat
That's $567/mo that stays in your business.
EXHIBIT E
Priced like software.
Not like a bounty hunter.
Planned tiers differ by dispute volume, not feature access. Supported dispute categories, exact submission behavior, and receipt behavior remain subject to the technical gate.
Starter
Up to 5 disputes / month
For stores where disputes are rare but expensive.
PLANNED STANDARD
Standard
Up to 15 disputes / month
For recurring dispute volume without percentage fees.
Growth
Up to 40 disputes / month
Subscriptions, digital goods, high-volume DTC.
Unlimited
Unlimited disputes
However bad the month gets, the bill doesn't.
Planned terms, subject to validation: 30-day trial · store-hosted billing · cancel anytime · no card holds, cancellation fees, or success fees
CROSS-EXAMINATION
Fair questions.
Do you guarantee I'll win disputes?
No, and you should be suspicious of anyone who does. Dispute outcomes are decided by card networks and issuing banks, not by apps. The planned workflow would organize the relevant evidence available from your records, show what is missing, and require your review before anything goes out.
What happens if I forget a deadline?
The planned product includes deadline countdowns and reminders. Automatic submission is not promised: Gate 1 must verify whether programmatic submission works in the required environment and what confirmation Shopify returns.
What do you do with my store's data?
This page does not access store data. Before any app connects to a store, its scopes, encryption, retention, model-provider controls, and data-processing terms must pass the technical and compliance gates. The product law prohibits cross-merchant training without Shopify's required written consent.
Which platforms and payment providers?
The first technical target is stores running Shopify Payments. Gate 1 starts in a development store. Direct submission cannot be marketed or enabled until an authorized production store also proves the submitted state and confirmation behavior.
How is this different from Chargeflow or Disputifier?
Two planned differences. Pricing: two established apps list 20% and 25% recovery fees, and Chargeflow separately lists $29 per successfully deflected chargeback. FlatBrief would use monthly pricing and take nothing from recoveries. Control: merchant review before submission is the default product law.
When can I use it?
We're validating demand before building the app. If FlatBrief clears its demand and technical gates, the waitlist receives the launch notice and 30-day trial access. No payment details are collected before launch.
EVIDENCE GUIDES
Start with the dispute type.
Seven plain-language guides summarize Shopify's current evidence guidance. They are educational, not a promise that FlatBrief is built or that any evidence guarantees an outcome.
